  2. As long as your colleague gets paid, what the hell… If you knew what governments do with our tax money, you would relativize… 🙂
The only danger is that, if the customer stops paying, your colleague will not be able to do anything about it legally.
So your colleague should make sure he gets paid regularly… and be prepared to lose any unpaid amount sooner or later.
But, as you said, it is temporarily better than not having any work – unless your colleague can rely on a good social security sytem and look for better customers in the meantime?
You both might try online customer databases like:
    http://www.dnb.com
    http://www.kompass.com
    – www.http://trendstop.knack.be/en/home.aspx (Belgian translation agencies and direct customers, by sector of activity; you will be able to choose importing/exporting companies and copy the direct e-mail address of the key people if you buy a login – for example after testing the system for free for 24 hours (you will already be able to copy the email address of the key people of up to 200 companies, not just the “info@” address) (I believe the system is about the same in the D&B and Kompass databases, which are more international. Someone told me that D&B is more English-speaking companies and that Kompass is more industrial companies, but since he was the salesman of the Trendstop website, this must be checked of course!).
